tiled: is it obvious?

#990BeachV2.0 is turning out splendidly. This inner-city project was a clunky bathroom turned sparkly!

We might have this thing with tiles.  Tile may be one of the most beautiful and challenging materials to work with. We are pretty fussy with how we want our tile to lay-up and return to walls or transition to other spaces, this is why we spend so much time on making sure the tile detail drawings are right, aligned, and that the material selections fit the application.

It seems as though we are in the midst of a huge bathroom project season. Here's the count of rooms in projects to prove it:

Cooking spaces: 3

Bathing spaces: 10

Work spaces: 4

Living spaces: 5

Private spaces: 2

Yikes. We have our work cut out for us. So here's what's happening in some bathrooms:

It's a lot of tile.

For the first bathroom in our #Tyee project, it's all about a modern take on subtle but pretty for this mid-century home.

That's a rhombus that when put all together will mimic a hexagon... It's all a bit too much!

The second bathroom in our #Tyee project is a modern-asiatic take with a bit of gothic architecture.

It's a challenge to find the right tiles a) locally, b) available in Canada,  and c) within the skill-sets of tile-setters... but I think we got this.
