Jitty: The linking of two areas in a village.

A "Jitty" is a narrow pathway between two areas of a village. In this example, it is a connection (or back laneway) between Granville Street and Seymour Street near our office. I think it aptly describes what a back alley really is in a downtown core.

Yes, it's dirty, has recycling and trash bins, isn't always the safest idea to use as a passage in typical Vancouver fashion, but I prefer to think of alleys, lanes, and jitties, as the backbone of architecture and their services or supply.
