West coast vibes at #ChinaCreek
Alright, so I might still be coming down off the ISDWest high this week. It was truly amazing to see that after 10 years they are one HUGE show and all the booths really stepped up to the plate to showcase what is actually a really small part of what's happening in Vancouver. One take away is that the maker culture, bespoke, and customs is back - that this excites me a lot. Let me introduce to you the China Creek Kitchen Renovation. I'm pretty excited to work with these clients and they are SO ON IT that it makes me nervous at times. It's all great, really, because we're following the design process to make sure that no step is forgotten because no one has endless bags of cash hidden in their mattress - but if someone does I'd be willing to spend it on a really cool Propellor Meridian light fixtures.
This is an IDSWest find, and I couldn't be more excited that after hunting and searching for the right lighting fixture for this client that Propellor was right in front of our faces. We are all in agreement that this fixture is happening for this kitchen.
One of the MANY things I do for clients is help them to envision the space before it gets too far along in the design process that we're re-designing for extra fees. I hate extra fees. So we work quickly to develop materials, floor plans, and design solutions that solve a big problem.
For this design solution, we're working with a 1912 home and the changes couldn't be anything but DRAMATIC. This lovely family deserves a beautiful kitchen because it is where they do everything - and this plan is an everything kitchen. One of the cool features is actually the Home Planning Centre (the client lovingly calls it the HPC now. Love how we shorten everything.) and they are happier than could be that we arrived at this proposed plan.
Here you see the materials and concepts we're working with and, yup, there's that west coast inspired plan again. This is a part of our initial services because we don't want to be shrouded in secrecy with the design ideas, we want to show them off.
I hope you'll enjoy seeing what comes of this cool project in a historic home. I can hardly wait to get the deck design going. Yes, we do that too!
