A full-home residential renovation design inspired by quilted woodlands in the Blueridge neighbourhood of Seymour Heights in the District North Vancouver, B.C.
When we were brought onto this renovation project, the clients admitted that they were reluctant to hire a professional interior designer because they were not feeling satisfied working with another allied professional. At our first initial consultation, a design solution was found for the kitchen with a focused view, activity zones, and plenty of space on a large island,
The goals of the project were to design a space that felt comfortable, reflected the homeowners personalities, and invest in quality because (as they said) “We do not want to do this project again in 10 years.”
A part of our sustainability goals are to work with existing furnishings whenever possible, and in this project we had to find a way of matching some existing elements—particularly by retaining the dining area curtains that anchored our inspiration for the kitchen interior finish pallet.
We selected Wolf cooking equipment and Sub-Zero preservation equipment, a dish drawer washer for easy-of-use and future adaptability, plus a full material slab on the kitchen island for future quilting projects to be spread out. From there the project evolved from a beautiful piece of Scala marble with green veins and a painted cabinetry scheme that reflects the dining curtains, marble veins and walnut characteristics. Remarkable.
