Design statement
Articulated Design Studio was brought in to design and project manage the renovation design of of this 2 bedroom strata unit. We focused on updating the hub of the main living space, kitchen, and baths with new flooring throughout. The goals were to reduce solar gain, as well as improve storage and layout to better enjoy the stunning views from above the 20th floor.
Custom millwork provided an alternate location in the living room for the Flat screen as well as additional custom shelves and storage. In the kitchen, we utilised the existing appliances and relaid out the space with a new countertops and a kitchen island in navy with warm grey cabinets along the wall and improved lighting.
Both ensuite baths received updated lavatory sinks and faucets, wall-hung vanity cabinets, counters, and hexagon tile. Throughout the space, new hardwood flooring by Ethical Flooring in a Scandi style was designed in an over-scaled herringbone pattern to accommodate the asymmetrical layout. To address the solar gain, we applied a Strata-approved low-V film by LLumar to all the direct sunlight windows - which wasn’t noticeable and decreased the average summer temperature by 10-15 degrees.
This was a full-service project valued at over CAD $120,000, and despite the March–June 2020 Pandemic Lockdown, the project was completed on time and within budget.
